The Challenge

Our client's vision is a product that revolutionizes how corporations complete a complicated task.

Currently, an existing app claims to address this issue. However, that solution currently available doesn’t truly fix the problem, lacks user-friendliness, and proves pricey. The task at hand is to devise something superior to the current market offerings.

Business Goals

Provide businesses a user friendly tool to manage tip pools. Create a web application that will help to onboard businesses and provide the tools to complete daily tasks efficiently. Provide staff a native app where they can track, move and transfer earned tips.

The Solution

Create a calculation system that considered hours worked by employees and tip amounts during specific timeframes.

Reduce the cash negative transactions which create pain to accounting department.

Web App Wireframes

For absolute clearness, my concentration was on user-friendly interface design via several wireframe versions. To achieve consumer feedback, model prototypes were developed and user testing workshops were organized. Tools like HotJar along with other software were employed to evaluate effectiveness and decipher user activity.

Feedack and Iterations

After our user testing and reviewing recordings, I was able to implement feedback to refine the design before making any other changes.

After several iterations, we were able to go from 77% success rate for Tip Pools to over 90%.

Our clients themselves own restaurants, so the feedback they provided was valuable.

Mobile Designs

Following several weeks of enhancing the web application, we persistently worked on the native app that will be incorporated in this DishOut edition.

This native application will assist users in tracking their gratuity income and inspecting balances. Furthermore, employees will have the capacity to transfer/ask for money, apply for a debit card (courtesy of Synapse integration), transforming DishOut into a fintech application.

User Interface

To guide the visual direction, we presented our clients with a range of mood boards and color palettes exploring various themes.

The options spanned cool tones like blues and greens, as well as warmer options with yellows and purples.

Ultimately, the client gravitated towards a sophisticated purple palette, which I thought it offered a unique and trendy aesthetic perfectly suited for DishOut's brand identity.

Next Steps

We are currently a fintech app, powered by Synapse [https://synapsefi.com/].

DishOut is an active app, with daily users.

At the moment we continue iterating and adding more functions to our native app.
